Kidney stones - A General look

Kidney stones can be very painful!  While I’m not a medical professional, I can provide some general guidance. I am writing all this as i have been its victim for the past 20 years. In all these times, i have gone through every bit of it even after 2 times laser treatment, i couldn't get rid of it. It's essential to consult a healthcare professional or a urologist for personalized advice.  Here are some common recommendations to help manage and potentially pass kidney stones:

1. *Stay hydrated*: Drink plenty of water (at least 8-10 glasses a day) to help flush out the stone.

2. *Pain management*: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen may help alleviate symptoms.

3. *Medical expulsive therapy*: Your doctor may prescribe medications like tamsulosin (Flomax) to help pass the stone.

4. *Dietary changes*: Avoid foods high in oxalate, calcium, or sodium. Increase citric acid intake (e.g., lemons, oranges).

5. *Monitor urine output*: Keep track of your urine production to ensure you're staying hydrated.

6. *Seek medical attention*: If you experience severe pain, nausea, vomiting, or blood in your urine, seek immediate medical attention.
